Should Christians be involved in politics?

1) Jesus says pray for the Kingdom to come.

Matthew 6:9-10 "This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."

2) Any form of man's government will not be perfect due to corruption and greed leaving someone affected.

Ecc 8:9 "All this I saw, as I applied my mind to everything done under the sun. There is a time when a man lords it over others to his own hurt."

3) Politics causes division. Covid, election etc has shown this especially in the churches.

1 Cor 12:25 "so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other."

4) Politics tries to conform the mind. Bible says Christians should have their mind transformed by God.

Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." 

5) Government authorities and laws must be respected.

Romans 13:1-2 "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves."

6) Government laws at times may violate God's law like some countries banned the gathering of church services. God tells his people don't forsake assembling.

Hebrews 10:25 "not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

Acts 5:29 "Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than human beings!"

7) Focus should be on the Kingdom of God.

Matthew 6:33 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Romans 8:13 "For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live."

8) God's kingdom will eventually do away with other forms of government and take care of the world's problems.

Daniel 2:44 "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever."
